At Bike Worcester, we are all about helping more people experience the wide range of benefits from cycling. We believe that adapted and electric bicycles are an important step towards ensuring everyone can enjoy cycling.

What we do to support accessible cycling

In addition to our work promoting cycling in the city, we have also worked on iniatives to improve accessible cycling…

  • Joined in on Relay Your Way 2025

Members of Bike Worcester cycled 35 miles from The Swan Inn, Worcester to Victoria Bridge in Hereford in support of Cerebra. Cerebra is a charity that works with children and young adults with brain conditions. Accessibility was the main focus of the relay.

  • Oscar and Lars on a tandem

In an episode of the Bike Worcester podcast, one of our Bike Bus volunteers goes on a tandem ride with a family friend, Oscar. Oscar is 12 years old and visually impaired. In this they describe a typical tandem outing, encounter some horses (twice!), and Oscar shares his experiences of being blind.

  • Campaigning for the removal of barriers

In some cases, the geometry of cycle barriers can limit the type of vehicle that can pass through them, whether that is a cycle, wheelchair, mobility scooter, or push chair. Bike Worcester volunteers have identified, photographed, surveyed the barriers, and have worked with Worcestershire County Council to start removing them.

  • Published maps of benches

One of our initiatives was to build a map of local benches around Worcester. We believe these are important for those who may need them to rest while out walking or cycling.
