Women’s Bike Maintenance Sessions

Let’s talk bikes. And let’s talk about those times when a minor mechanical hiccup feels like a mountain you can't climb. For many women, getting to grips with bike mechanics can feel a bit daunting. It’s a male-dominated world, full of jargon and greasy parts, making it hard to feel confident taking on even the simplest repair.

But here at Bike Worcester, we say: no more!

We believe that every woman should feel empowered to understand her bike, tackle common issues, and keep herself rolling safely and confidently. That's why we're thrilled to run our dedicated Women's Bike Maintenance Sessions.

It's about empowerment, unlocking bike confidence

These aren't just workshops; they're a chance to demystify bike mechanics in a supportive, friendly, and collaborative environment. Think hands-on learning, zero judgment, and plenty of "aha!" moments. Our incredible facilitators, like the brilliant Em Wormald and our own Daisey Wallis, create a space where questions are encouraged and confidence is built one turn of the spanner at a time.

What you'll get your hands on

Forget just theory – these sessions are all about practical skills. You'll learn:

  • How to conquer that dreaded puncture.

  • Keeping your chain clean and lubed for smooth riding.

  • Adjusting your brakes for optimal stopping power.

  • Basic safety checks to ensure your bike is always road-ready.

  • And sometimes, we even get to strip down donated bikes, understanding how they work from the inside out and salvaging parts for our recycling scheme!

A smash hit (and sometimes with pizza!)

Our "Punctures and Pizza" nights, for example, have been an absolute smash hit, often booking out in record time! The feedback is always overflowing with newfound confidence and enthusiasm.

A Regular Tuesday Catch-up

Want to keep the momentum going? We also host a dedicated Women's Bike Repair Session on the first Tuesday of every month.

Join us from 7:30pm at the entrance to Friary Walk. It’s a relaxed, regular date in the diary to practice in our workshop what you’ve learned, ask those niggling questions, or simply enjoy the company of other women who love bikes. No pressure, just hands-on learning and support.

It’s about demystifying bike mechanics, building self-reliance, and creating a space where people feel able to handle their own repairs.
