The Bike Bus Ambassadors project
The Bike Bus Ambassadors project is a new project which aims to bring together the multitude of benefits of children and families participating in Bike Bus, with the artistic and storytelling talents of the children who participate, and the supportive spirit of their surrounding community.
Through gifting the children’s decorated cowbells to selected residents along the Bike Bus routes to use in support of the BIke Bus as they pass, the resident’s subsequent participation will encourage more children to choose Bike Bus for their journey to school and will foster stronger connections between residents and their local community.
The project will look to foster community connections by creating opportunities for children, families and residents to connect through their shared experiences. By sharing their experiences of empowerment on a Bike Bus and expressing themselves creatively through art and storytelling the children will pass on these experiences by gifting their work to others, strengthening an intergenerational connection in the process and encouraging community participation.
This project will also raise awareness and support for the Bike Bus initiative, which promotes cycling as a joyful, social and empowering mode of transportation. By encouraging community members to get involved, we aim to foster a culture of active participation in cycling, leading to a reduction in traffic congestion and pollution, and increasing the levels of safety for pedestrians, cyclists and all road users.
