Anti-Bullying and Intimidation Policy

Purpose
This policy supports Bike Worcester’s Safe Space Declaration and sets out our clear position on bullying, harassment, and intimidation. We are committed to a welcoming, respectful, and kind environment for everyone who supports cycling in Worcester.

Scope
This policy applies to all members, volunteers, trustees, supporters, and anyone representing Bike Worcester, including at meetings, events, online spaces, and in all communications.

Bullying and intimidation
Bullying, harassment, or intimidation undermine our values and are not acceptable. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Aggressive, threatening, or abusive behaviour (verbal, written, or physical)

  • Personal attacks, insults, or persistent undermining of others

  • Harassment, discrimination, exclusion, or misuse of power

  • Shouting, swearing at, or deliberately humiliating others

  • Online abuse, hostile messaging, or trolling

Our expectations
In line with our Safe Space Declaration, we expect everyone to:

  • Treat others with respect, care, and kindness

  • Listen to different experiences and viewpoints

  • Challenge ideas constructively, without attacking individuals

  • Be mindful of tone, impact, and personal boundaries

Raising concerns
Anyone who experiences or witnesses bullying or intimidation should raise it with a coordinator, trustee, or can email safeguarding@bikeworcester.org.uk. Concerns will be taken seriously and handled sensitively.

Response
Bike Worcester will respond proportionately and fairly, which may include mediation, setting clear boundaries, issuing warnings to members, or removing individuals from roles, activities, or platforms.

Commitment
Everyone shares responsibility for maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive community. By upholding this policy, we help ensure Bike Worcester remains a positive space for open conversation and collaboration.
