With the rugby season in spring bloom, Bike Worcester is helping fans make the most of their matchday experience. On Saturday 11th April, we’re inviting all Warriors supporters to ditch the car and join us for a community-led ride to the stadium.
Our goal is simple: to make active travel to Sixways as easy, social, and enjoyable as possible. Whether you’re a regular cyclist or haven't been on a bike in years, this ride is for you.
The Plan
Morning Prep (From 10:00)
Before the main crowds arrive, our volunteers will be out on Offerton Lane and Butterfly Way "preparing the approach." We’ll be doing a community litter pick and tidy-up to ensure the route is at its best for everyone walking and cycling to the game. We'll also have a pop-up "Pit Stop" under the road bridge for quick bike checks and sticker swaps!
The Community Ride (Departs 13:00)
We will meet at The Hive in the city centre and depart at 1:00 PM. Our route is via Perdiswell Leisure Centre at c. 13:45. This is a steady, inclusive ride designed for fans of all ages and abilities. We’ll arrive at Sixways together, with plenty of time to get through the gates before kick-off.
Why Cycle?
Cycling is one of the quickest ways to get to Sixways on matchdays. You’ll avoid the traffic queues, save on parking, and enjoy a scenic route via Butterfly Way. It’s a great way to build up some pre-match energy with others, not to mention the health, environmental and financial benefits.
Join Us!
Please sign up if you’d like to join the ride or the morning volunteer team, Pit Stop crew or all three!
Let’s make the journey to the game as much fun as the match itself!
FAQ
I’m not a confident road cyclist, does that matter?
Not at all. This ride is specifically designed to be inclusive and beginner-friendly. The route will mainly be on residential roads or traffic free paths, and the sections on main roads will be marshalled. We ride at a steady, social pace, and our experienced volunteers will be on hand to ensure everyone feels safe and supported.
What about the return journey?
The organised community ride is for the journey to Sixways. Supporters typically make their own way home after the match at their own pace. However, it’s a great opportunity to find a "ride buddy" during the trip to cycle back with after the final whistle!
How far is the route?
The route from The Hive to Sixways is approximately 4 miles. It’s a flat and scenic journey.
Are there any age limits?
We welcome Warriors fans of all ages. The ride won’t be suitable for very little legs on their own bikes due to the distance, but experienced Bike Bussers will be able to manage. All children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Where can I get a bike?
